1. How would you implement your top priority?

Answer from Peggy A. Brickweg:
I want to consult with professional developers regarding the NuMaid property and Vine Street. I want to bring in new business to help increase St. Bernard's tax base. By increasing the tax base it would enable the city to purchase other properties where senior housing and new homes could be built. I also want to have open meetings with the citizens to listen to their ideas and concerns. I want to work with the professionals, using the citizens ideas to create a major plan that the city implements.

2. Numerous important issues including transportation, land use planning, housing and economic development for the Greater Hamilton County regions are being deliberated by OKI's Land Use Commission and Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Planning Partnership COMPASS; how engaged should local government be in these planning activities? If elected, how would you participate in these planning activities?

Answer from Peggy A. Brickweg:
I think it is very important for our city leaders to be involved with OKI. If they widen I75 it would have a large impact on our city. We could possibly lose the land that houses the service department, fire department, post office, to name a few. We need stay involved with OKI and we need to think ahead when making future plans. We need to be pro-active not re-active.

3. Ohio Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Recycling Coalition conducted a state-specific study and found recycling businesses in Ohio generated $650.6 million dollars in state government revenue. If elected how would you promote recycling and support recycling programs currently in place in your community to reduce solid waste generation?

Answer from Peggy A. Brickweg:
St. Bernard has a wonderful recylcing program, but we can always improve. Our city leaders need to continue educating the citizens regarding recylcing. They need to educate the citizens on various ways they can improve their recyling efforts. It would help if the city showed the citizens the amount of revenue gained with recyling and show them how that money is spent.
