Answers to several key media questions about my status as a canidate

What do you want to achieve? I understand that I will be just one of 5 board members but I will be an advocate for controlling spending, pushing for a plan to upgrade or replace our elementary schools while maintaining the quality of education. I will advocate that programs such as ET, enhanced kindergarten and AP classes be continued; even if fees must be increased. I am not for closing programs that the public needs.

Other Goals: I want to make the work of the school board more open to the public. I would like to see more individuals have input at the board meetings (less committee reports). I would like, as part of the board, to use my marketing training for better communications with the public.

Biggest Issues: The Levy, spending is increasing greater than 6% while revenues are increasing less than 2% and, finally, the lack of a public plan for repair/replacement of the elementary buildings.

What makes me the best candidate? I will be an independent voice. I will vote my convictions even if the result is 4 to 1. I have a strong financial background and demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to difficult situations. I would advocate business development in the district which moves us away from a dependence on manufacturing revenue toward increased revenue from new housing (Mariemont Landing, apartment to condo conversion in Mariemont, the proposed condos in Fairfax), expansion of the Mariemont Inn, business and highway redevelopment of Wooster Pike thru Fairfax, additional retail development in Columbia Township and support the Eastern Corridor Project which all will work to expand the tax base. The future should be to enhance revenue by supporting improvements in the residential, office, service and retail assets of our communities.
