Riverside County, CA | March 2, 2004 Election |
Communication from the County Board of EducationBy Nancy KnightCandidate for Member; Riverside County Board of Education; Trustee Area 7 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
If new boundaries had not been drawn for your Trustee Area many of you would still be uninformed about your right to vote for your Trustee. In fact, many times there is so little knowledge of the Trustee election that only one candidate files and therefore no election is required. It is an automatic win. Not this year. This year you have a choice. On March 2, 2004, you have the opportunity to elect someone who has the desire and resources to communicate County Board of Education issues with you, the residents, taxpayers, and parents of the Lake Elsinore, Temecula and Murrieta school districts. The County Board of Education is different than the local school boards that you are more familiar with. The County Board is comprised of elected members from eight regions of Riverside County. The Superintendent is also an elected position and as such he answers to you, the voter, as opposed to the Board. About My Platform: Southwest Riverside County has developed into bedroom communities with few local career options. Our unpredictable future requires personal flexibility and creative choices for career alternatives. Alternative choices can be provided through public funded Occupational Training Programs. I have valuable experience in brainstorming solutions and formal entrepreneurial training. It is my goal to partner with community and educational leaders to increase opportunities for our residents. Your tax dollars deserve to be spent effectively and efficiently to better your economic future. As editor and publisher of the Bugle newspapers, I have a passion for open-communication. Through the Lake Elsinore, Temecula and Murrieta Bugle newspapers, I have the unique opportunity to keep you informed of County Education issues and programs. And I listen to you. You can call me at 677-6046 or email me at nancy@thebugle.com. The County budgets tax dollars to provide our residents with an affordable curriculum in special education and regional occupational training programs. My business management degree will be a valuable asset in analyzing our budget to get the most from our tax dollar investment. My research background has been a valuable asset in city government where I have been an advocate for controlled growth following land use law. This research capability will be useful in my responsibility to evaluate appeals for expulsions and interdistrict transfers. |
