|
Businesswoman, Planner and City Councilwoman Roberta MacGlashan currently serves as a City Council Member in Citrus Heights. She also served as Mayor twice and Vice Mayor three times since her election in 1996. She earned a Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning, and has served as a Planner and Executive for City and County government + later becoming a consultant and owning her own business. Roberta currently manages projects for a local firm. As a planner, Roberta understands families and businesses depend on roads for work, shopping and leisure + so she worked to increase road improvements and maintenance, and helped secure state and federal funding for critical local road improvements. During her two terms on City Council, Roberta led efforts to create a more "business-friendly" environment + cutting red tape and bringing jobs and businesses back to the local community. Good fiscal planning and responsible budgeting is a top priority for Roberta + because she knows taxpayers shouldn't bear the burden of government overspending. On the City Council, she pushed to build strong reserves in the city budget + building more than $25 million in reserves, while holding the line against higher property and sales taxes. Roberta is proud that she has never voted to raise taxes. Citizens deserve to feel safe in their homes, schools and nieghborhoods, that's why Roberta worked to put Police Resource Officers in every local High School + creating stronger relationships between schools and law enforcement and making classrooms safer. She also fought to stop "juice bars" and adult businesses from locating near families and schools. Roberta was elected to the Citrus Heights City Council in 1996 and re-elected in 2000. Roberta and her husband, Craig, have been married for over 30 years and reside in Citrus Heights. Roberta MacGlashan
