We must obtain funding and bring economic vitality to our commerical corridors.
I am proposing more job creation, recreation and after school programs for youth. I will increase needed services for seniors. As a primary activist who, along with others within the community, succeeded in turning an abandoned site into the new thriving Berkeley Bowl, I will continue to improve the economic vitality on the main commercial corridors. I have and will continue to work with members of the school board to improve and eventually erase the achievement gaps in the schools between African American and Latino students, and the more affluent. I am working to establish an arts and theatre district within District 3. I will strive to achieve an inclusive and unified community around the social justice principle of fairness and a more equitable distribution of precious resources. As a former member of the City of Berkeley's Planning Commission and the current Chair of the Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board, I will continue to promote the development of affordable housing options. I will continue to be responsive and accountable.
