I was born in Long Beach, CA and grew up in rural
South Carolina from K-7th grade. My Mother then moved
back to Alameda in 1970 and I've lived here since.
I attended Haight School and graduated from Alameda
High School. I went to Commmunity College in Stockton
for 2 years before transferring to U.C. Berkeley.
I revieved an Associate of Arts degree in Rhetoric from
San Joaquin Delta Community College.
I received by Bachelor of Science degree in Political
Science and Public Policy from Cal and before graduating,
I worked in Sacramento for 2 years for Senator Nicholas
Pertis and for the State Department of Education.
That is where I learned about how the Educational
System works in California and how the budget system works
for Public Education and the Legislative proces.
My wife Terri and I have been married for 18 years
and our daughter Melanie, 23, also lives and works here
in Alameda. She graduated last year from the University
of the Pacific. My wife Terri and I were friends and
former classmates at Alameda High School. We re-met at
our 10 year Class Reunion in 1985. We married one year
later . We currently have 2 small dogs -Mr. Jeeves, a 1
year-old playful Boston Terrier and Gizmo, a 2 year old
Chihauhua. We are frequent visitors to the Alameda
Small Dog Park.
