Fire Safety in the HillsBy Betty OldsCandidate for Council Member; City of Berkeley; Council District 6 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The northeast hills of Berkeley are vulnerable to fire. I supported the construction of a new, jointly staffed fire house at Shasta and Grizzly Peak Blvd. to protect our citizens.Fire is a real threat in our area. I supported and fought for the construction of a new fire house at Shasta and Grizzly Peak Blvd. so that emergency response time and firefighting capability will not be compromised in the event of an emrgency. I have also fought for staffing levels of both the police and fire departments to be maintained, despite our budget crisis. I initiated bi-monthly debris pick-ups and also insisted that public barbecue pits in our parks be locked on high hazard fire days. |
