I will serve the Clovis Memorial District to the best of my ability to move forward with solutions for major growth of the community.CANDIDATES STATEMENT Hello. My name is JUDITH PREUSS, and I am a retired Administrator. I am running for a seat on the Board of Directors of the Clovis Memorial District. I will bring to this office the opinions and experience that have been engrained in me with the growth of Clovis. Serving the growth of this accessed area is the major issue the Memorial District faces today. I have lived in Clovis all my life and have served and worked over 40 years in this community watching and participating in that growth. My family came to Clovis in 1920; my husband's family came in 1932. Both families came to start a new life and work, and in doing so, contributed to the growth and development of Clovis. I have farmed a peach ranch and owned and operated two successful retail businesses before going to work for the Clovis Chamber of Commerce in 1984. I retired as Vice President in 2003. Also, during the last 41 years I have volunteered as an officer or major participant in the Fresno County 4-H Program (1971-1984), the Clovis Farm Bureau Agriculture Display-Fresno District Fair (1963-1979), and am cofounder and President of the Miss Clovis Scholarship Association (1988-2004). I have run for public office (1991), was awarded Clovis Professional Business Woman of the Year (1995) and am a graduate of LEADERSHIP CLOVIS (2001-2002). I serve as a Charter Member of Soroptimist International-Clovis, an active member of Big Dry Creek Clovis Historical Society, a member of the Clovis Rodeo Association, the Clovis Elks Lodge 2599, the Clovis Chamber of Commerce and the Shaver Lake Chamber of Commerce. I am a current member of the United States Selective Service Local Board. During my time at the Clovis Chamber of Commerce it was my privilege to Chair the three year Federal-State-County-Local Committee that established the Sierra Heritage Scenic Byway and The Wildflower Trail along Highway 168 from Clovis to the John Muir Trail above Huntington Lake. I served on the Fresno County Ground Breaking and Ribbon cutting Committee for Freeway 168; and I participated in the two year program to develop a "Vision" and a "Steering Committee Curriculum" for LEADERSHIP CLOVIS. I then participated as an Intern for the Class 2001-2002. I am very much aware of the growth issues of facilities and programs facing the Clovis Memorial District. I will serve the Clovis Memorial District Board to the best of my ability to move forward with solutions for those issues. |
