Carlos L'Dera is a resident of Pine Mountain Club and an elected Director of the Mountain Communities Town Council. He is striving to end the pattern of community neglect and replace it with community involvement.

Carlos (he hates being called "Mister) founded Parents Demand in the year 2000 in order to deal with inequities of school districts. The organization has been successful in highlighting, and correcting many discrepancies in California schools. He is an employee of the Los Angeles County Office of Education and has worked in Alternative Education, Court Schools and ROP

Carlos is the author of a resolution on education that has been adopted nationwide by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the oldest and largest Latino organization in the United States. He is the elected Treasurer of LULAC District 8.

Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley awarded Carlos a commendation in recognition of his volunteer work with the homeless in Los Angeles.
