Steve, working with fellow Council Members, community organizations, citizens of Seaside, as well as neighboring elected officials has started the ball rolling on numerous economic recovery development projects that Seasiders want.

Steve's favorite project (selected as "very important" in the 2001 city wide survey by 87% of respondents) on the horizon is the Fremont-West Broadway commercial site and street improvements. Visualize a pedestrian friendly corridor starting at our town center, Fremont at Broadway, and heading West all the way to the Embassy Suites and beyond. A sense of place, lined with thriving restaurants, a new hotel, coffee shops and boutiques along with our established businesses in the area. Add to this scene heading East, our New Seaside Library a short distance away next to the Post Office. Now look to the North and add the Auto Center Revitalization Project and one can see a realistic pattern of improvements up and down Broadway and beyond.

Lest we forget our opportunities in the Seaside portion of old Fort Ord. Completion of the Seaside Highlands, a new Resort Hotel at Bayonet/Blackhorse golf courses, 1st Tee just across the improved wider Gen Moore Blvd., the Residential Community Initiative housing for our military families, new interchange off Hwy 1 half way between Fremont and Light Fighter interchanges, continuing improvements at CSUMB, the Main Gate area with major regional retail and commercial opportunities and mixed use affordable housing, CHISPA low to moderate income residential housing in the Northeast section of our city, affordable housing nuzzled in between the golf courses and Sun Bay.

And finally, add to this, just off Fremont the San Pablo 100% affordable housing project now under construction.

Steve will maintain continuity, momentum and team work leading to completion of these revenue sources that provide funding for services and affordable housing to our citizens.

Our city is fully staffed with excellent people and we have made it through the state budget crisis with no layoffs. Having been part of the Council who hired the last City Manager, who put these excellent people in place, Steve will look for those same qualities in our next City Manager.

Steve is always prepared, always listening, and always trying to see beyond the immediate? He truly cares about the people of Seaside. He always has and we think he always will.
