JEFF HAFERMAN SOME CANDIDATES TALK ABOUT PROBLEMS...OTHERS SOLVE THEM LOOK AT JEFF HAFERMAN'S RECORD OF WORKING FOR YOU: · Led the effort to downsize the $16 million new city government center. Helped persuade the City Council to reduce the scale of the project and save taxpayers over $3 million. · Mobilized neighborhood support to reduce traffic on Franklin Street to limit late night and early morning noise. The result: The City worked with the DLI to limit neighborhood traffic impacts. · Called for using $150,000 in "windfall" revenue to the City of Monterey to maintain library hours and the Bookmobile. The result: the Council voted to maintain library hours and the Bookmobile. THINK HOW MUCH MORE JEFF COULD DO AS YOUR COUNCIL MEMBER Dr. Jeff Haferman is one of Monterey's outstanding neighborhood leaders. An engineer by profession, Jeff holds advanced degrees from two of our nation's leading universities. Previously employed by NASA, he currently serves as a weather satellite specialist for the United States Navy. Exceedingly familiar with budget and finance issues, Jeff worked in the Budget office at the University of Chicago and at the Chicago Board of Trade. Vice President of the Old Town Neighborhood Association from 1998 to 2002, he is also a member of the Old Monterey Preservation Society. Jeff has also been a member and volunteer for many local events and organizations including Christmas in the Adobes, First Night Monterey, Monterey Peninsula Sunrise Rotary, and was elected to the Board of Directors of the State Theatre Preservation Group. Jeff and his wife Joyce presently live in the historic Finch House in Old Town and are committed to preserving Monterey's unique charm and character. Jeff fully supports land-use policies that protect this pocket of paradise we all call home and is an outspoken advocate of maintaining the beauty of our precious coastline for future generations. |
