Where Our "Innovative Instincts" Should Lead Us

By Leroy J. Saunders

Candidate for Director; Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District; Division 4

"The fields are white with harvest - but the laborers are few"
There are a myriad of prudent and appropriate tasks and endeavors, ripe for the picking, that are being "stepped over" and "stepped around" by those chasing the LEAPS pipe dream. So many areas in need of attention, so many facility superstructures that stand in need of repair, systems and superstructures and infrastructures and facilities in various stages of disrepair, crying out for attention, while those that are charged with maintaining, repairing and improving are off "creating". The problem with that? Simple. If you are so busy trying to do someone else's job, you give birth to two problems. One - with you interfering, the person whose job you are trying to do is not being allowed to do the job he's supposed to do. And two - if you are so busy trying to do someone else's job, then your job goes undone. Address the tasks at hand. Sufficient for the present time are the tasks that presently exists - no need to look for new or additional ones.

If we would set our sails towards securing new and better water sources, we would have a future that stands secure with regard to water resources. If we would implement innovative and effective conservation technology, those precious resources that we do have could be safeguarded and extended. If we could encourage and implement legislation that would require a standard of excellence regarding new construction - water wasting could eventually be phased out.

Lastly, if the Rate Payer's $$$ were directed where they were intended to go, not only would our service improve, but our rates would go down as well.

"There's enough to do in our own backyard without traveling clear across the country to find something different to do."

Translation = There are enough "water related" issues that need attention and solving, without having to look for something to do in an area that is not within the scope of EVMWD expertise
