Fernando is a Civil Engineer of Puerto Rican decent, that graduated from the New York City College School of Engineering in 1977. Susequently, he received a Certificate in Construction Management from the U.C. Davis Extension in 1988 and is currently working on obtaining Project Management certification.. Fernando is a Graduate of the U.S. Army's, " Management Staff College," in Virginia and both The City of Sacramento's, " Planning Academy," as well as the City Manager Academy. He has worked for the past 27 years as a civilian with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in various assignments that have taken him to Japan, Korea, Turkey, Germany, Azerbaisan, Kazachstan, Armenia and Soviet Georgia. As an engineer, his passion is construction projects. He is a City appointed Commissioner to the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, a member of the Natomas CPAC and a member of the Natomas ," Measure M, Construction Oversight Committee." Fernando enjoys gardening, flying R/C aircraft, cars and just about anything of interest to his children. His oldest daughter, Vanessa is graduating this fall from Patten University in Oakland and his son Juan is an anesthesia technician at the Kaiser Permanente South hospital facility in Sacaremneto. He is very proud of all his children and their accomplishments and wishes to insure all children have the ability to excel in all their endeavors. |
