As a parent of three children and community member for over 15 years, it is important to me stay involved. Before becoming a board member I was very active in our schools and community. As a member of the Superintendant's Parent Advisory Board, School Site Council and PTSA member I developed an in depth knowledge of the strengths and weaknesess of our district.

Our board is comprised of members with backgrounds in education, finance, transportation and business. I bring a unique perspective with my background in law enforcement.

As a board member for the past four years I have implemented pro-active youth programs for students in grades k-12. I have been instrumental in the development of school safety plans and hands on training. Valuing our students opinions I asked that our young people have a venue where they could have a direct inpact on the decisions made in our district. Soon after the Superintendant's Student Cabinet was formed.

I visit school sites on a regular basis and give students and campus staff an opportunity to voice thier opinions, offer suggestions and solutions and take the time to know each other better.

I sit on the curriculum committee, attend CSBA regularly and have presented a workshop at a state-wide conference regarding school safety and solutions.

I pride myself on "hearing" the concerns of teachers, staff, students and parents. Communication is important to me and believe community and parent collaboration is imperative for the success of our students.

I a proud of how much has been accomplished in my past four years as an Elk Grove School Board Trustee and will continue to fight for what is best for our students and staff. We are facing tough times but the consistency of our current board and smart fiscal decisions have allowed us to keep the necessary budget cuts away from the classrooms. We have reduced class sizes in grades k-3 and have been able to begin class size reduxtion in grades 4-6 even though we have faced harsh budget cuts.

My goal is to see that every child has the same opportunties for success regardless of culture diversity, economic challenges or learning disabilities.
