INVOLVEMENT IN CARDIFF SCHOOL DISTRICT
David has two children at Cardiff Schools: a daughter in second grade at Cardiff and a son in fourth grade at Ada Harris.
2002 to Present: CARDIFF EDUCATION FOUNDATION:
Served as President, Past President and Board Member responsible for Leadership gifts and major donors. The CEF is a non-profit 501.c3 organization that has raised nearly $500,000 since 2002 in support of Cardiff Schools. The mission of CEF is to support Cardiff Schools in providing educational opportunities in the areas of Science, Computer Technology, Physical Education, Spanish, Music and the Arts.
2000 to 2003 SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL:
Served as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Committee member. Involved in allocation of money, School Site Plan and other general business.
2002 - 2003 BASIC AID TASKFORCE:
Served as Inter-district Transfer member of this Task Force responsible for studying issues, exploring options and making recommendations to the School Board as to the options and best direction to meet the educational needs of Cardiff residents balanced with and honoring the significant contributions of Cardiff's IDT's. This challenge surfaced due to the district's changing State funding status from "Revenue Limited" to "Basic Aid" as regulated by the State.
2000 to 2001 SCHOOL BUDGET COMMITTEE:
Served as committee member to address concerns and draft recommendations for budget priorities during anticipated budget shortfall.
2000 to Present: INVOLVED PARENT:
Active parent on field trips, Ice Cream Social, in the classroom, during Holiday Food drives etc.
