Providing effective emergency servicesBy Frank L. AsaroCandidate for Board Member; Deer Springs Fire Protection District; Full Term | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I have led and participated in the efforts to increase the effectiveness of fire prevention and emergency services in the Deer Springs Fire Protection District. I want your vote to continue this work.Since I became a member of the Board in 1999 the District has made significant improvements in providing fire and emergency service. I am proud to say I led and participated in the efforts to attain these improvements. We now have a master plan to guide us in accomodating growth and enhanced emergency services. Additional improvements include expanding the contract with the California Department of Forestry to have the Lilac Station open year round rather than closed during the winter months. In addition, an ambulance manned by paramedics is now located at our Station 1 and we have upgraded one of the firefighters on each engine to full paramedic status. Under a plan recently adopted by District property owners,we will soon be constructing a new fire station in Hidden Meadows. This will reduce the critical factor of overall response time and backup capabilities. We will also be adding a third firefighter on all engines to provide needed manpower. We conduct an aggressive brush enforcement and weed abatement program through our Fire Marshall who is also responsible for fire safety compliance and inspection on all new construction. We recently commenced a program of CPR instruction which is offered free to District residents. All of these enhancements have been undertaken with a sharp eye toward reducing cost wherever possible. I would like your vote to continue this work. |
