EXPERIENCE I have served San Diego State University as a Faculty member, Dean and Civil Rights Compliance Director for nearly 25 years and have received "outstanding faculty" honors five times. You previously elected me to serve eight years on the San Diego County Board of Education, during which I served two terms as Board President.

RECOGNIZED INTEGRITY Elected officials from both parties trusted me to represent them as statewide President of the California Association of County Boards of Education and Vice-Chair of the San Diego-Imperial Counties Community College Board Alliance.

COMMITMENT I have spoken out for public education for two decades and have hosted more than fifty television programs on education, including Children's Hospital's highly regarded series "Caring About Kids". As a Trustee I have worked to enhance the chances for all students to succeed...demanded excellence in workforce and university preparation...and ensured taxpayers the best return on their educational investment.
