Experience You Can Count On Larry Jackman is an entrepreneur and businessman that has grownup and lived in the San Miguel fire district for 50 years. An active community leader, Larry Jackman was first elected to the San Miguel fireboard in 1992. During the past 12 years, he has been instrumental in making San Miguel Fire District the outstanding fire department it has become, recognized as one of the leading fire agencies in Southern California. Proven Leadership Early on, Larry Jackman took the lead in implementing and maintaining fiscally responsible budget policies. He facilitated the construction of two new fire stations, the acquisition of several new fire engines, adding a fully staffed truck company and a heavy rescue engine, as well as adding many other significant improvements to the response capabilities of the fire district. As a long-term member of the Emergency Medical Services committee, Larry Jackman worked diligently to promote advancing the level of service provided to our community from basic life support to full paramedic service. All of this was accomplished without increasing taxes. Regionalization Larry Jackman is at the forefront of looking out for the interest of San Miguel taxpayers when it comes to regionalizing fire service. He actively represents San Miguel on the County's fire taskforce subcommittee on regionalization. For 10 years, Larry Jackman was the board president of the JPA commission responsible for all of East County's 911 fire and medical emergency dispatch services. Larry Jackman is a founding commissioner of the San Diego County Regional Communications System known as the "RCS". For the past nine years, representing Heartland, East County and San Miguel, Larry Jackman has been influential in successfully enhancing East County fire agencies ability to respond together, fighting fires and handling emergencies. In addition, for the past three years, Larry Jackman has been East County's representative to the San Diego County Futures Foundation. Larry Jackman has the knowledge and experience necessary to protect San Miguel's ongoing needs following the Cedar fire and to deal with the uncertainties of budgetary issues brought about by State deficits. |
