I am a native San Diegan, growing up in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. Lakeside was a favorite family destination Sundays after church and I have pictures of myself at Lindo Lake circa 1955. I frequented the horse stables that used to be located at Glenview and Flinn Springs and rode through Blossom Valley when it still had lemon groves. I am a graduate of SDSU with a Master of Science degree in Biology and perform biochemical research at SDSU. I volunteer as a judge at the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair each year. My husband, Gordon, grew up in Lakeside and we returned in 1983 to build our home. I joined the Lakeside Planning Group in 1987 and have been re-elected by the community four times. I am a Life Member of the Lakeside Historical Society, President of the Blossom Valley Riders and Gardeners, member and past Chair of the Lakeside Design Review Board and member of the Lakeside River Park Conservancy. I served on the Lakeside Revitalization Committee and participated in the development of the Economic Revitalization Plan for Lakeside. I have planted trees along Highway 67 with the Lakeside Families for Trees, repaired community trails, and recently spruced up the jacaranda trees on Winter Gardens Boulevard for Clarence Harris. In 1999 Soroptimist International of Tricities East honored me as a Woman of Distinction for my volunteer activities. |
