Candidate Statement for John M. Gray

By John M. Gray

Candidate for Board Member; Lincoln Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Lincoln Unified School Board General Election November 2, 2004
Lincoln needs ethical, experienced and compassionate leadership for the next four years. Although student achievement continues to improve throughout the district, we must continue to work toward greater accomplishments in all areas of student life.

My ongoing leadership brought data driven accountability to the school sites and the district as a whole. As a result, principals now report to the Board each year on the progress of our schools and goals for the future. Student behavior continues to improve while we demand greater consistency of discipline throughout the district.

I am continually energized by my interactions with parents, students and staff throughout the district. Making the school board more accessible to the community is my ongoing commitment. I have encouraged greater parent and community participation through my involvement and support of many school and community programs.

Always striving for improvement, I have completed CSBA's Masters in Governance course. The National School Board Association recognized me with its Distinguished Service Award and I was recently invited to make a presentation on Professional Governance Standards at Oxford, England.

Continue the progress, maintain our excellence. Vote for quality education, accountability and ethical leadership.

Remember, it's about our kids.

Please reelect John M. Gray.
