I have been in education for 34 years. I am presently teaching Anthropology and Economics at San Joaquin Delta College. I also am a member of California Teacher's Association (CTA) and have been president for 4 years. My educational background has provided me experience with negotiations, school finance, grievance, and school policy procedures. I have been involved with the Haven of Peace Women's Shelter for Battered Women for 9 years. I am a member of the Board of Directors and also served as President for 4 years. During that time, I worked with staff on personnel training, budgets and operational issues. I was involved with writing federal, state and local grants to expand the services and operational needs of the shelter. In the community, I have been a coach and treasurer for the Manteca Soccer League (12 years), Science Olympiad (coach and judge), Science Fair (judge), and worked in my church on various committees and church leadership roles. |
