We need critical upgrades in our public safety departments.By William "Bill" PeirceCandidate for Councilmember; City of Morro Bay | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We need to ensure that our police and fire departments have adequate training, equipment and proper facilities.I support critical upgrades in our public safety departments. In spite of our budget problems, we need to ensure that our residents are properly protected. Our fire department was heavily damaged in last year's earthquake. Morro Bay's fire engines are stored in tents because the building is uninhabitable. We need to replace our damaged and outdated fire facilities. Additionally, We need to expand our fire/rescue operations. We need to open and staff a second fire station to serve the northern portion of our community. The increased staffing will reduce response times, saving lives and property. We need to ensure that our police personnel have the latest equipment and training. Department communications equipment is sadly outdated and needs replacing. Our officers need modern tools and training to continue keeping our streets safe. |
