National SecurityBy Duncan HunterCandidate for United States Representative; District 52 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Congressman Hunter believes in maintaining a strong military and providing our men and women in uniform the resources they need to get the job done.As Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Hunter believes his greatest responsibility is ensuring the protection of our nation and its citizens. Though the terrorist attacks of September 11 brought a new focus to many in Congress on the importance of defense, Congressman Hunter has always held the belief that without national security, you cannot have social security. It is for this reason that Congressman Hunter continues working to overturn years of neglect by the previous administration and once again make national defense a top budget priority. As Chairman, Congressman Hunter has worked to increase the overall size of the military force structure, implement the modernization of current weapons systems, develop new and innovative defense technology programs, provide quality of life improvements to our military personnel and their families, and support the continued development of a national missile defense system. Today's war on terrorism requires an unwavering commitment toward investing in America's greatest asset, our troops. By providing our men and women in uniform with the resources they need to get the job done, we help ensure their safety as they protect ours. |
