Additional Endorsements for Debbie Sandland
Candidate for |

|
As a 1994 graduate of Royal High School and a politically active student in the Simi Valley Unified School District, I gained a firsthand insight into Simi Valley's educational system. I first met school board member and current re-election candidate Debbie Sandland in 1992, and I have had the pleasure of working with her on several important school-related issues. I have kept in contact with her since my graduation from high school and value Sandland as a friend today. I would like to mention a few of Sandland's remarkable qualities that make her a sensible and outstanding choice for re-election to the school board. Most importantly, she has an excellent personal character, personal integrity and offers a genuine concern for the students, staff and faculty in Simi Valley's school district. She is honest, has solid values and beliefs, and is a highly ethical person. Sandland constantly solicits input from concerned students, parents, staff and faculty, and she is willing to look at those concerns and incorporate them into her decisions when appropriate. I recall meeting with Sandland after my graduation and her asking for my honest evaluation of my experience in Simi Valley schools. She truly wanted to know what was working and what was not from the student's perspective. I have no doubt that Sandland cares just as much for the concerns of staff, faculty and parents. Sandland is an experienced candidate for Simi's school board, having already gained the knowledge that comes with two full terms of working on the board. She believes in Simi schools, is an advocate for public education, and will work hard to further the gains that have already been made. Please join with me in supporting Sandland for another term on the school board.
Travis Moon It is rare that a community has the good fortune to be blessed with a public servant who has the dedication to the children of Simi Valley that Debbie Sandland has shown. During her eight years on the school board, she has been a tireless advocate. Her inclusiveness of all children embodies the basic principle of public school: to educate the populace to the benefit of all society. Debbie has worked to end discrimination so every child, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation or the circumstances of their birth, can have what every human being deserves; a good quality of life and a fair chance. I met Debbie twelve years ago after contacting her about a curriculum issue. She was responsive and knowledgeable to my concerns. Her integrity and character impressed me and throughout my years of knowing Debbie, I continue to value the traits that make her a good candidate for re-election. Debbie has common sense and ethics. She wants the same thing for all children that she wants for her own two children; safe schools, a place to learn that instills respect, values, honesty and compassion. She supports a student to teacher ratio that will insure an optimum academic environment. Debbie is an advocate for everyone involved in education. She is incredibly dedicated, and a hard worker. Her record speaks for her. Through Debbie's re-election, the children of Simi Valley will be the winners. Charlene Pizzadili |
