Candidate for
Council Member; City of Pico Rivera

I have lived in Pico Rivera for 18 years and am proud to call it my home. I attended pre kindergarten to high school in Pico Rivera and graduated valedictorian upon high school graduation. I have volunteered at YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, and Beverly Hospital. I love to help my community in any way I can. It makes me happy to know that I have made someone's life a little bit easier. Months before graduating high school, I atttained my Associate's in Arts degree in Liberal Arts and graduated Cum Laude. Going to college, while in high school was not an easy task. Nevertheless, I enjoyed going to school each day. I love to learn and I love to use all of my potential. For this reason, I had the strength and passion to make it through college. Attending East Los Angles College has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have sat in classes with students who are much older than me and until today I look up to them so much. Juggling child care responsibilties, attending school full time and working full time is not easy. Nevertheless, somehow they were able to accomplish this. I tell myself that if they could accomplish what they wanted to accomplish with so many barriers in their ways, then so can I! Currently, I attend the University of California, Irvine and major in English and Philosophy. Although the students in my classes are much older than me, I am happy to say that I make the Dean's Honor List each quarter. I have a lot of passion for life, and pursue whatever I choose to pursue with a great amount of strength and determination. I am who I am today because of my parents' endless sacrifices and their everlasting commitment in making me become an individual with morals, integrity, and intelligence. I love my family very much and am so grateful to have them in my life. I believe I'm the perfect candidate for a councilmember for Pico Rivera. I'm asking individuals to look beyond my age and the superficial. In reality, I'm a capable and hardworking individual. Most importantly, I never give up and I think persistence is the most important component of success. Please believe in me!
