Support issue of secession, inefficiencient Los Angeles bureaucracy, empower neighborhood councils, create homelessness czar, oppose sales tax increase, reduce density of contruction in LA, support charter schools, increase staff at planning department,

1) Most of the problems that face Los Angeles deal with the fact that the bureaucracy is too large, inefficient and unmanageable.

2) The Neighborhood Councils have been baby steps in the right direction, but City Hall still remains out-of-touch and unresponsive to community values.

3) Los Angeles cannot be fixed by making it bigger and throwing more money at the problems we face, we need to make LA better for the people that are living here now, economically, environmentally and socially.

What does this mean in real terms? Simply put, smaller government is more responsive and by definition more responsible to the people.

Los Angeles is made up of a collection of the best small towns in the world, but these towns are being controlled by the concerns promoted by lobbyist, political strategist and consultants that work for the highest bidder instead of working for the interest of the people. Just because Los Angeles is a large municipality that does not mean that the citizens of LA need to sacrifice their quality of life. Yet, everyday we are asked as citizens of this great city to accept gridlock, pollution and homelessness, as if these problems cannot be solved. I won't accept this as a rationale for keeping things the way they are now. Secession would put the local communities in a position to control their own destinies. Secession will allow the people in the varied communities to take direct responsibility for the problems that affect their day to day lives, like safety, planning and transportation.

By electing a Mayor that has defended this cause we can guarantee a fair debate on this issue in the future. I am the candidate that will fight for your right of self-determination. The one way to give the people of LA this opportunity is to elect a Mayor directly in this primary that supports this cause. The numbers are in your favor, the door is open to change. As the Mayor I will not block the "will" of the people. I am not here to ask you to vote for me just because I have the best plan. I am here to ask you to vote for me, because "you" have the best plan. My name is Bill Wyatt and I want to be your next mayor.
