Political Philosophy for Steve Austin
Candidate for |
My political philosophy is simple. I believe in small government and I believe that as a Congressman I will be working for you. The government is not my employer-- the people are. The people should be over the government because the people are the government and not the other way around. Too many politicians have forgotten this and often give in to political pressure or interest groups when making decisions. Each and every decision I make will reflect what I feel is in the best interest of the people of the 2nd district. I will consider each county as an equal and I will fight to ensure that the rural areas are represented just as fairly as the other parts of the district. I believe that our leaders should be accessible to those who put them in office and the people should hold them accountable for decisions that they make. Congressional Representatives need to conduct themselves with honesty and integrity and must never forget to keep everyone is mind when making decisions. We need to have a spirit of cooperation if we are going to obtain solutions that hinder our district, state, and nation. We should be ready and willing to compromise but without selling out our values at the same time. Our leaders should stick up for what is right no matter what the cost simply because it is the right thing to do. I believe that it is the government's duty to enable us the take care of ourselves and not do it for us. The government should supply us with the tools but the rest is up to the people. My political philosophy is much like that old proverb-- "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." That is my political philosophy. |
