We need to be successful in both Iraq and Afghanistan, or we will leave failed states as launching pads for terrorism rather than representative forms of government with secure militaries.
Our country had been under terrorist attack throughout the 1990's with World Trade Center bombings, embassy bombings in Africa, attacks in Saudi Arabia, and the U.S.S. Cole attack, and yet our focus as a country was not sharpened on this issue until September 11th. We need to accomplish three primary goals at this time: the successful completion of the War in Iraq and the War in Afghanistan; enhanced performance of our intelligence operations; and greater coordination with our allies in continuing to fight the terrorists throughout the world.
