Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your evaluation of candidates seeking Trustee positions in the Wiseburn School district. When I was elected 4 years ago the Daily Breeze endorsed me and my fellow candidate, Israel Mora. Four years ago our district was in turmoil with our teachers and our community, our test scores were adequate but not great, our construction planning was stalled, our budget was on the verge of being overspent, and technology was almost non-existent in Wiseburn. Four years later all those negatives are reversed: communication with teachers and the community is excellent, our test scores have increased significantly every year, our construction planning is at the state for approval and almost ready to go out for bids, our budget is well balanced while preserving education programs, and we have up to date technology in all our classrooms. I believe my positive, unwavering approach to accountability, communication, planning and teamwork is a big reason for these improvements. I also believe that I fulfilled the trust implied by your endorsement in 2001.My fellow trustees also up for re-election, Israel Mora and Nelson Martinez, share the same approach to decision making with me. While we may not always agree, our differing viewpoints are healthy for Wiseburn and lead to thorough discussions of important issues.
