Governance Experience, Proven LeadershipBy Tom LackeyCandidate for City Council Member; City of Palmdale | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My six years of experience on the Board of trustees for the Palmdale School District and 20 years with the Highway Patrol have prepared me for a Palmdale City Council position. The leadership void created by the two incumbents choosing not to seek re-election means two new leaders must surface. I beleive my past experience as a board member coupled with my law enforcement leadership experience has prepared me for this opportunity to lead. Palmdale has grown substantially over the last ten years that I have lived here. The lower cost of residency will continue to bring growth for the coming years ahead. As a result, public safety must rise to the top of the city leadership's focus. The law enforcement leaders and the community must work together to defeat those who choose to prey on the compliant. Palmdale has developed several beautiful parks and commerce centers that will become magnets for criminal behavior unless a powerful message of criminal intolerance is established. I have learned over the past six years that working with a leadership team with differing views is a challenge. I have learned how to communicate my perspective without diminishing the person with an opposing view. I have received formal training as well as on-the-job training on working as a leader within a leadership team. I care about Palmdale's future. The City of Palmdale must not only be a place of residence, but a place where families can enjoy recreation and quality time together. Please support me in this challenge by voting for Tom Lackey for Palmdale City Council on November 8, 2005! |
