Sound Economics for a Sound School DistrictBy Bill Ste. MarieCandidate for Governing Board Member; Bellflower Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Through four years of sound economic judgement the Bellflower Unified School District looks forward to a stable future.During the past four years this Board has made some excellent choices to not only survive difficult budgetary times in California, but has risen above them. We have taken advantage of matched state funds to renovate and grow at our school sites. We have also used this advantage to establish a state of art, natural gas, transportation department, along with a fleet of new natural gas buses,to transport our students in a clean air environment while saving our district from the financial strain of the spiraling cost of diesel fuel. As a direct result of sound decision making we have maintained a balanced budget, a fully funded reserve account, 20 to 1 class size, and we haven't lost a single classified or certificated employee or base educational program to budget problems. |
