For eighteen years Sheldon was the President and owner of the leading Direct Marketing Services firm, The Walter Karl Companies. He sold the companies to InfoUSA in 1999.

Before that Sheldon built Consumers Bargain, a direct mail marketing company, into a multi-million dollar organization.

Sheldon has been a featured speaker at many industry conferences, has written articles for several industry publications and is regularly invited to participate in the Leadership forum.

Sheldon is involved in a number of companies and sits on several boards. Since moving to California in the year 2000, he has been active in local charities and has recently joined the Board of Directors of the New Designs Charter School in Los Angeles as the Treasurer. His primary concerns are for education, children's organizations and international political policies.

Sheldon graduated from Long Island University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He served in the US Army Reserves. Always a strong proponent of public education, Sheldon and his wife Marla, are the parents/step-parents of five children all who have attended public school: Lauren, 31 graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and has a MBA from Columbia University, Rachel, 28 graduated from the University of Maryland, Michael, 26 graduated from the University of Rhode Island, Nicole, 23 graduated from Boston University and Hannah,6 is attending kindergarten at Pacific Elementary school.
