1. In the light of the League's long-term commitment to education, we are concerned about funding schools adequately and equitably in a climate of "no new taxes". How can you assure voters that the schools are using state funds wisely and fairly, and that requests for additional funding are the result of true need rather than waste or frivolity?
The process we have to develop and pass the budget is open to the public. Our District goes to great lengths to inform, educate, and hear input from the public as to how the District prepares each year's budget. As a Board we have been successful in establishing agreed upon goals and objectives to direct and guide the administration when developing the budget. This process also allows for each Board member to assess the impact of the budget to achieve the goals.Last year, our District successfully passed a bond measure, and the District, (as required by law), quickly established a bond oversight committee made up of members of our community. This process too, was open for public for review and input.
