Christopher R. Moylan grew up in New York and has lived in Santa Clara County since 1979. He was educated at Princeton and Stanford, and now teaches chemistry at Stanford. He also holds an adjunct faculty position at UC Santa Cruz. His age is 48.

Chris worked for four employers as a scientist before taking his current position as an educator. He worked for IBM for 13 years, most of that at the Almaden Research Center in San Jose. Chris has also worked for three startup companies: Lightwave Microsystems, Adven Polymers, and Wavesplitter Technologies. His favorite job ever was working as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at his hometown pool, which is why he became an active member of the Friends of the Fremont Pool. The Friends were instrumental in persuading the city and the high school district to work together to build the Olympic pool at Fremont High School.

Chris has been married to his wife, Julie, (a fourth-generation Sunnyvale resident) since 1993. Julie and Chris met when they were cast opposite each other in a community theater production of "Fiddler on the Roof." They have two children: Billy, age 8, and Katy, age 6. Both children attend West Valley Elementary School in the Cupertino Union School District. West Valley parents know Chris as one of the more histrionic exhibitors at Science Night each year.
