Greg Enholm - Candidate Statement - Sent with Sample BallotsBy Greg EnholmCandidate for Director; Ambrose Recreation and Park District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
This statement summarizes Greg Enholm's background, his reasons for running, and what he proposes to do in office. When I was elected to the Ambrose Recreation and Park District's Board in 2002, our auditor said the District was heading to bankruptcy after years of deficit spending. Working with four other board members, we hired a new General Manager. Four years later, our auditor says ARPD's financial condition is strong. Now the challenge is to improve the quality of our parks and offer more recreation services. To help spread fixed costs, and be responsive to citizen complaints, ARPD now maintains all 19 County parks in the District under contract. Also, our new General Manager created, and distributed to residents, a brochure describing ARPD offerings. If re-elected, my priorities will be 1) Continue my efforts to improve finances; 2) Find grants to improve park quality including planting more trees; 3) Work with board members and staff to open new parks including helping Concord establish a large sports park open to ARPD residents just south of Highway 4 on converted Weapons Station land. I ask you to vote for me for another term. I am endorsed by State Senator Tom Torlakson, Assembly Candidate/Supervisor Mark DeSaulnier, and Ambrose Recreation and Park District Chair Gloria Magleby. I will continue my work with them to improve District recreation and park services. |
