Political Philosophy for George C. Montgomery
Candidate for |

|
I will take a tough stand on violent crimes and all repeat offenders. We can maintain and preserve our civil liberties but be tough on violent crime and predators. I support drug and alcohol treatment as an alternative to jail time for non-violent juvenile offenders. As Judge of Los Angeles Superior Court, office #102, I will work with our elected legislators to create a bill that will fund substance abuse treatment for first-time, non-violent juvenile offenders. As Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court, office #102 one of my top priorities would be to teach young people that entering the criminal justice system at a young age can lead to a life of arrest and incarceration. Our children need to be encouraged to participate in, not fear the laws and legal system. I want to start a program that would allow officially approved field trips from local public schools to the Los Angeles Superior Court, office #102 to introduce the courtroom and its workings first hand. Not only children but many adults can be intimidated by our legal system. I would like to sponsor after hour discussions, in my courtroom, open to the public. The discussions will provide education about the processes and procedures of the Los Angeles County criminal and civil courts. |
