Political Philosophy for Alan Cohen
Candidate for |

Together, we can make a difference and improve the quality of life in our town Infrastructure: We have a preponderance of pot holes in our streets that are begging for repair. Our public park facilities, like the restrooms at lovers point, need immediate attention. Public Safety: We need to return the Police Department to full strength and demonstrate our desire to provide the best possible and most cost-effective public safety to our citizens, including rehabilitating street lighting to remove any dangers. Environment: Our precious forest has not been properly attended to for the past 4 years. Over 800 trees have been removed last year alone and there is no aggressive replacement plan in place. Our Recreation trail has been left in disrepair for the past two years and repair needs to be given Council attention. Our storm water run off plan needs implementation Business: We need to streamline the City's business regulations, eliminating unnecessary red tape and making them more user-friendly, without removing any of the teeth in the rules that protect the best interests of the City and its residents. Budget: The city had a public workshop and the Finance Committee has conducted several workshops and must move forward toward revenue enhancement. We need to act on resident, business and government input to date and move toward implementation. Gathering ideas is of no value unless we act on the recommendations. |
