Carl's expertise in budget preparation and security and safety issues highlights his 30 years of public serviceCarl Miller has announced his candidacy for Director of the Monterey Peninsula Airport Board. Voters in the Monterey Peninsula Airport District will elect two Directors on November 7, 2006. Carl is the Chief of Police in Pacific Grove and has worked for the Pacific Grove Police Department for thirty years rising through the ranks to Police Chief. He currently oversees a $4.7 million budget, which is similar to the airport budget. Chief Miller has expertise in security, safety issues and traffic program management. He has a BA degree from the Golden Gate University in Police Management and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the California Police Command College. Carl has lived on the Monterey Peninsula for 36 years and lives in Monterey with his wife Diana Ferrante Miller and sons Alex and Marc. Carl Miller is a member of the Pacific Grove Rotary Club and currently sits on Monterey County's Restorative Justice Commission and the Pacific Grove Unified School District Measure "D" Oversight Committee. He is past president of the Monterey County Peace Officers Association. Chief Miller has announced his plans to retire from the police department later this year. When elected, Carl will bring balance to the Airport Board and will support reasonable, but responsible growth at the airport. He is sensitive to neighborhood concerns over noise and traffic. Carl sees the Airport Board as a way to continue his more than thirty years of public service. Former Airport Board Member Marty Haskell (1986-2002) is treasurer for the Committee to Elect Carl Miller to the Airport Board. |
