For the past 9 years, I have had the privilege of serving on the Cypress School District Board of Trustees. As a School Board Member, I am committed to:

  • Maintaining a balanced budget amidst economic cutbacks

  • Maintaining classrooms for 20 or fewer students in Kindergarten through Grade 3

  • Keeping class size for Grades 4-6 as low as possible

  • Continuing to upgrade and expand the educational technology program

  • Continuing the choral music program full-time in all schools

  • Upgrading the infrastructure of school facilities

  • Expanding the Cypress Educational Foundation, which provides additional funding for Cypress schools

Cypress schools are excellent and among the highest achieving schools in Orange County. In the recent release of the spring 2006 API scores, Cypress ranks 2nd, with an API score of 853, when compared to the other 12 Elementary and K-8 Districts in Orange County. When comparing all 28 districts (Elementary, K-8, and High School) in Orange County, Cypress School District ranked 4th. Another achievement during this past year included the California Distinguished School Award to Landell Elementary School.

I believe my experience as a teacher, administrator, and Board member has been an asset in my past service to the District and will continue to guide me in the future. My background includes over 38 years experience in public and private education.

My commitment is to provide excellence in education for Cypress School District students.

My wife Sandy and I have been residents of Cypress for over 37 years. I currently attend Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Cypress and have served on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club.
