I am dedicated to putting children first and I am committed to encouraging community participation, business partnerships and city support to ensure that our students have the excellent education that they all deserve.My leadership in education covers a variety of areas, such as , serving as the Vice President and President several times. I was the Campaign Chairperson for the Measure C Bond campaign in 1997 and I also served on the Campaign Committee for Measure F.
During the past twelve years I also served as the Board Representative to the Budget Advisory, PTA Council, GATE, Latino & Bilingual Advisory Committees. I currently serve on the Budget Advisory, Measure F Oversight, District Audit Steering Committee, District Special Education Committee, Voluntary Implementation Plan Committee, DCP Charter Board Representative, SHAPE & District Nutritional Committees , Safety Committee and the Metro Ed Board alternate Board Member.
My community involvement spans over 30 years, starting with active parent involvement in my children's activities at Carson Elementary where I served on the School Site Council, and I was the PTA Treasurer and volunteered on the fundraising activities and volunteered in the Media Center and classrooms. I aslo secured two $1,000 educational grants from IBM for Carson's science program. I am a serve on the Board of Directors for the Gunderson Foundation where three of my children graduated from Gunderson High School,in 1997, 1992, 2002; my youngest son graduated from Pioneer in 2004. I currently have a Grandson attending John Muir Middle school. I actively participated in my sons's little league, served on the Board of Directors and Auxiliary to support youth sports. I was Volunteer of the Year in 1998 and actively participated in many fundraising activities, served as the Snack Shack Coordinator and Treasurer.
I now ask for your support and your active participation in our schools, so that we may continue to make a positive difference in the lives of our children.
A a concerned parent , my priority is to enable our schildren to get a quality education in a safe environment. Their education is the foundation of theri future and whatever they learn today will enable them to pursue a productive life.
