Marshall Wolf Marshall was born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Tampa, Florida. The family included father Bob, who recently passed away, mother, Bernice, older sister Sandy, younger sister Linda, all of Tampa, Florida, and older brother Michael of Newport Beach, California. Marshall came to the Bay Area to attend Stanford University where he received a degree in Economics. Marshall worked in San Francisco for Arthur Andersen & Co after graduation and then for GATX Corporation before moving south to work for Tandem Computers. He has been with Tandem through mergers with Compaq, DEC, and Hewlett Packard and just completed his 20th year with the combined companies. Marshall and his wife Kristi were married in 1984 in Palo Alto and slowly moved south to Los Altos, then Campbell, and then nine years ago they moved to Scotts Valley to be closer to Kristi's parents, long time Scotts Valley residents Vernon and Lucille Burgess, and grandparents, Gus and Edith Monzani (both now deceased). Marshall has a son, Sam, 17, who will graduate high school this year, and a daughter Laura, 13, who is in eighth grade. Both kids attended Brook Knoll Elementary where Marshall first got involved in volunteering for the schools. He became an Executive Board member of the PTA and served in that capacity for quite a few years. He got involved in heavy duty fundraising as a member of the organizing committee for a Middle School Bond Measure and a co-founder of the 4 Schools Fund to try to offset funding losses from the State. Marshall went on to become a Board member of the Scotts Valley Middle School PTA and he joined the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation in 1999. Marshall became President of the Foundation in 2000 and helped increase fundraising to nearly $100k per year. During Marshall's term as President, the Foundation received "Organization of the Year" from the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce. Marshall became a well known face at the Scotts Valley Rec Department as he helped organize the annual Ice Cream Social, and later the SVEF Century Bike Ride to raise money for the Foundation and the schools. Marshall is still an active member and Director with the Ed Foundation. Marshall joined Kiwanis several years ago and has become even more involved in community events. Through Kiwanis, Marshall is now involved in the annual Bean Creek Run and the Scotts Valley 4th of July celebration. Kiwanis raises money and provides community service to benefit the children of Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley. Marshall is currently the Treasurer-elect of the club. In 2003, Marshall was appointed to the Scotts Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees to fill the vacancy left by Mark Stone, who had been appointed as the 5th District Supervisor. Marshall then ran and was elected to a two year School Board term in late 2004. He is currently the Vice President of the board. Since moving to Scotts Valley, Marshall has shown great dedication to our community and our schools. He is always there to lend a hand and he is a great asset to Scotts Valley. |
