Oceanside needs a council member who has an understanding of the beach economy--I am that council member!Oceanside needs a council member who has an understanding of the beach economy--I am that council member! As a coastal community, we are home to the only harbor in North County, the longest fishing pier in California, and the most desirable, beautiful, sandy beaches in north county. We have it all, and it is time Oceanside residents benefit from it. In the past some of Oceanside's leadership has not understood our beach economy. There are those that would like you to believe that it is as easy as taking out a business license and opening a store front. The reality is that the city council must have an understanding of how to work with state agencies so that our projects do not get bogged down or rejected, instead quick approval. My experience and back ground brings that type of understanding to the many projects that we have in front of us. The hotel proposal at the pier by SD Malkin is what the community has been waiting for; far different than the Manchester proposal, this proposal was community driven and from what I can see, falls within our Local Coastal Plan. The community spoke loud and clear when they told the council that the Manchester project did not suit our community--I have been listening to the community and know that once the SD Malkin project is built, it will be supported by not only visitors to Oceanside, but the residents of this city--I will make sure that it will be somewhere you can enjoy, and a project you will be proud of. Oceanside needs council members that use their time wisely on the council to make good things happen for Oceanside--I am that council member! Keeping the hotel on line, developing El Corazon for park and commercial uses, and completion and implementation of a new updated traffic circulation plan will prove to be the key to success in cross marketing Oceanside--our coastal area, the Mission San Luis Rey and El Corazon. Then, and only then will be begin to realize the potential revenues the `big three' will bring to Oceanside's coffers, and the added enjoyment of long waited for amenities, fine restaurants and shops that Oceanside residents have been waiting for. |
