Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Michael M. Agbaba

Candidate for
Member of the State Assembly; District 43

This information is provided by the candidate

It took a Democrat and a Republican to make this country the best in the world. I am a proud American, Californian and a Republican. We have a crisis in Sacramento that needs to be remedied starting in 2006.

1.Protection of Proposition 13: Many citizens are unaware that there is a big push to "modify" or "abolish" prop. 13. Ask yourself can I trust Sacramento, can I trust my local government with my property taxes? Many citizens are on fixed incomes or tight budgets, where they can't afford to pay huge amounts of money for property taxes. I will protect that right versus my two Democrat opponents are on the record of wanting to change prop.13.

2.Education: California has a budget for education that is bigger than many states total budgets, and these states have better performing schools and less "dropouts". I want to make sure that money earmarked for education ends up in the classrooms, and not wasted. I want to audit education spending! I want the money for student's needs, for teacher development, for classroom supplies.

I respect the teachers and their profession it is a much respected profession, they played a major roll in my life and will go on the record "I am not against teachers" "I am against waste"!

My stand on vouchers is that I would support them if I see a voucher plan that worked. I support the public school system that works and has accountability. We need to give our children options in education such as technical and vocational education starting in 10th grade.

3.Economic growth: I support fair regulations for all businesses. We need to start promoting "pro growth" legislations instead of "no growth" that is currently coming out of Sacramento. It is easier to apply for welfare assistance than it is to open a business, we need tax incentives for new businesses and stop Workers Compensation fraud it only hurts the workers who have a legitimate claim.
