Knowledge and Experience in water managementBy Richard T. HandleyCandidate for Board Member; Casitas Municipal Water District; Division 4 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The need for change at the Casitas Water DistrictI have lived in the Ojai Valley for 27 years and raised my family here. I am currently the Preserve Manager for the Ojai Valley Land Conservancy (OVLC) and manage nearly 2,000 acres of open space, including 3 miles of the watershed along the Ventura River. I will bring to the Casitas Municipal Water District Board of Directors my knowledge of the watershed and my familiarity with the regulatory agencies that have authority over the watershed. I have 8 years experience managing the budget for a local private high school and as OVLC Preserve Manager I have successfully written grants aimed at improving the water quality of the Ventura River. I am eager to serve on the Casitas Water District Board of Directors so that I can help implement NECESSARY CHANGES in financial management:
1. Lack of sound maintenance policies at the Casitas water District have contributed to an increase in OUR water rates.
If elected I will: 2. Improve relations with state and federal agencies that can provide grant funding to finance government-mandated improvements. 3. Provide closer scrutiny of rate increases so that customers don't get strapped with a financial burden. |
