Barbara J. Silzle has lived in Lansdowne for 12 years; the first six as a renter and now as a homeowner in the Gladstone Manor neighborhood. Professionally, Barbara is a mission-driven leader, renowned for helping to foster positive change in the Philadelphia nonprofit community for over 20 years. She served as Executive Director of The Leeway Foundation, a private foundation that supports women and trans artists of the region working for social change, and she is a trustee of The Valentine Foundation, a grantmaking organization that provides funds to organizations and programs that empower women and girls. She has served in management positions at several significant arts organizations in the area including Freedom Theatre, Prince Music Theater, the Philadelphia Drama Guild and The University of the Arts. Barbara is known for her integrity, her whole-hearted commitment to causes she believes in, and her ability to bring people together. Barbara was honored to be elected by the people of Lansdowne to serve as Borough Auditor for 2004 and 2005. She serves on Lansdowne's No Place for Hate committee and volunteers for the annual Lansdowne Arts Festival. |
