"Splendid Success" In 2005, Whittier Union HSD was recognized as having acieved the Highest API (Test) Score gains in Los Angeles County."

Our Annual API Scores have increased the past "six years" in a row. We are committed to ensuring each student has the very best instruction in the classroom. We are committed to raising student achievement among all of our students.

During this same tme period we have closed the "achievement gap" by 40% between our top Honors Students and all other Students in the Whittier Union High School District. A tremendous accomplishment!

Fiscal Responsibility:

"Whittier Union High School District is fiscally sound. We will continue to ensure that our financial resources are allocated fairly for the benefit of our students and families. Upon passage of our local school bond (ca. 1999, $98 million) the Governing Board appointed an Oversight Committee made up of prominent local citizens to oversee the expenditures for the school modernaization and new construction." We're nearing completion of our School Construction Projects. Projected completion in 2009/10.

School Safety:

"School Safety is number one! During the past several years Whittier Union has worked closely with the city of Whittier, Santa Fe Springs, Los Angeles County, and U.S. Rep. Linda Sanchez, to secure grant gunds to help underwrite the cost of placing fulltime Police Officers (SRO Officers) at eac of our high schools to increase school campus safety."

Parent & Community Involvement:

"Our PTA's, Booster Clubs, Education Foundations, and Alumni Associations have done an outstanding job on behalf of the students. I fully support and endorse each Group's efforts on behalf of the Whittier Union High School District." (Thank you Groups for all your support of the Students!.)
