GREAT strides carry the District forward!

Selected new Superintendent with bond and school construction experience

Selected Chief Business Officer with bond and school construction experience.

Balanced budgets without CUTS! Hired a new fiscal officer who improved financial procedures to allow financially informed decisions.

Made tough decisions to lead to greatly improved financial picture for TUSD. General fund reserve has been restored to appropriate levels! Encroachments almost eliminated.

Supported the district's mission of academic improvements and student achievement. Test Scores are good AND improving. Small K-3 and selected 9th and 10th class sizes maintained. Provided utoring and special assistance for those students struggling with basics.

Supported high standards for all students and comprehensive college preparation. Revised weighting of TUSD classes for GPAs; Broader access to Honors and AP classes; Revised graduation requirements; Presented to parents on college process.

Functioned to connect a variety of community and school groups; TEF, PTA, HOAs, TPO, CSBA, LACSTA, TTA, SEIU, Legislative Action Committee.

Committed to being available, accessible, and open to entire school and community. Board contact information on website and in district directory. Hired PIO.

Faithfully serving community of Torrance with a focus on information exchange. Moved public comment section of board meetings to start of meeting, guided improvements and new design of the TUSD website, revised board agendas to be more user friendly, and began on-line monthly community TUSD newsletter.

TUSD is better today than 4 years ago...and than yesterday. We look forward to bigger and better things for the students of Torrance
