Donita Winn + Ballot Statement DONITA WINN OCCUPATION: Board Member, Antelope Valley High School District The Antelope Valley has been my home since 1973. I am proud to bring a lifetime of dedication to our local schools as a High School Board Member, Elementary School PTA President, and Past Chairman of the successful Classrooms for Kids campaign. I also helped to develop an effective classroom reading program for Lancaster Elementary Schools. During my first term as your Board Member, I have worked to bring greater public involvement and accountability to the High School District, including: Quality Education--Supported higher teaching standards, smaller class sizes and greater emphasis on academic fundamentals in our classrooms. Reduced Overcrowding--Support the building of new schools and classrooms to relieve overcrowding at our high schools. Organized community meetings to get citizen input about improving high school facilities. School Safety--Supported the stationing of Sheriff's Deputies at our high school campuses to prevent gang activity and keep drugs away from students. Financial Responsibility--Support strict financial oversight to ensure that your tax dollars are spent in the classroom--not on more bureaucracy! Thank you for the opportunity of serving as Your Voice for Accountability on the Antelope Valley High School Board. |
