San Mateo Times Endorses Annette Hipona

THIS is a critically important time for the Jefferson Elementary School District. As its enrollment declines, finances become tighter, and school closure -- along with the attendant question of how to handle surplus land -- becomes an issue that cannot be avoided.

The final call on such a weighty and contentious matter is made, as it always must be, by the district's board of trustees.

That's one more reason why the November election is so important for that North County educational enterprise.

In our view, Hipona clearly stands out in this election. Her experience in dealing with the affairs of the district is invaluable....
