A list of my priorities
- Reestablish the posting of the minutes on the Web
- Aggressively work to build an attitude of mutual respect and personal responsibility at all levels of the organization starting with the Board
- Insist on a written record of all meetings of the Board and its Standing Committies (approved minutes)
- Make Special Meetings of the Board a rare occurrance and instist that they be fully noticed and scheduled at a time that encourages public attendance
- Review the contract with CalFire and present a full disclosure of all its costs on the Web (both financial and in terms of service)
- Listen to the people and respond to the petition by over 1500 Coastside voters to have a say in their fire department's future
- Get the board's commitment to return to the policy of maximizing the number of paramedics available instead of settling for the county's minimums
- Re-establish the water rescue program that allows our firefighters to respond with the Harbor Patrol to medical emergencies off our Coast
- Maintain and build our vital Volunteer Firefighters' organization
- Carefully analyze why firefighters leave our organization and take steps to recruit personnel who have a love of the Coastside while creating a work environment that makes this the best place in the county to work
- Re-establish the former accounting practice of maintaining segregated accounts for funds collected for specific purposes (i.e. weed abatement)
